The Brick and Terracotta Dynamic Museum

The history of the museum is rooted in Marsciano's rich ceramic tradition, a center that has preserved the art of clay craftsmanship over the centuries.
The museum was established to safeguard a heritage of knowledge, techniques, and traditions that risked disappearing with modernization.

Terracotta production in Marsciano and its surrounding area underwent various developmental phases, each leaving an indelible mark on local history.
Between the 19th and 20th centuries, this activity grew significantly, evolving from a purely artisanal craft to an industrial reality, while maintaining a strong bond with tradition.

The museum is housed in Palazzo Pietromarchi, one of Marsciano's most valuable architectural treasures-a majestic building standing in the heart of the historic center, embodying centuries of Umbrian history and identity.
Its history is intertwined with the noble Pietromarchi family, one of the region's most influential lineages, who chose it as their residence. Strategically located along the town's ancient communication routes, the palace became a hub of Marsciano's social and cultural life.
The family's patronage and political influence are reflected in the building's architecture, which harmoniously blends power, refinement, and artistic taste.
